As you can see, I am taking a quick break from my usual cartoony/foody posts, to bring you something a little different. A good friend of mine, and fellow blogger, requested that I blog about my recent purchases from Sephora. If beauty is not your thing, don’t worry, I have another food related post coming up!
My skin has always been very sensitive, but lately my skin has been flaring up more than normal. I suspected that my old make-up could be the culprit, so I took this as an opportunity to add and replace a few staple items in my collection. Thanks to the recommendations of my knowledgeable friends and co-workers, all of the items I have purchased have not been disappointing at all.
Now, I’m no expert in make-up, so I will try to describe each product to the best of my ability 😀
1. Becca Ever-Matte Priming Perfector $44 CAD
One of my biggest complaints is how oily my skin feels at the end of the day. With the help of this primer, even though my skin still feels slightly greasy, I noticed the oiliness has been reduced significantly. I normally use this alone, but on the rare occasion when I use this with a foundation or BB cream, I notice that my make-up tends to last longer. It’s a bit pricey at $44CAD, but I would have to say it’s worth it, especially if you have problems with oiliness.
2. MUFE Eye Primer $26 CAD
Another problem I have is with my oily eyelids. In the morning, I would apply my liner, and by the time the afternoon rolls around, my liner would have smudged already.
When I started using this primer underneath my liner, not only did my liner stop smudging, it barely faded as well. In fact, the color of my liner is still so intense, it looks like I just applied it. Touch-ups are still required, but it’s only minimal.
3. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer $30 CAD
This was actually recommended by my co-worker, and I’m really glad she introduced me to this, because this is probably one of the best concealers I have ever used!
The last concealer I swore by was Laura Mercier’s Secret Concealer. In fact, I loved it so much I went through at least three pots of it, until recently when I started to grow tired of the heavy cream formula. Nars, on the other hand, is not only lightweight, but only a tiny amount is needed to provide enough coverage. The lasting power of this concealer is pretty amazing too, I would have to say it’s just as long lasting as the Secret Concealer, but without the heavy feeling.
4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz $27 CAD
I would have to say this is my FAVORITE purchase so far.
For the longest time, I have been using NYX’s Brow Cake Powder, and although it is fairly affordable at approx. $9CAD, I never really liked it because of its poor lasting power. I have heard a lot about Anastasia’s Brow Wiz, but I simply couldn’t justify spending $30 on an eyebrow pencil.
When Sephora had the $15 Christmas discount, I bit the bullet and purchased it. Boy, am I glad I did!
I have always stayed away from brow pencils, because it seemed tricky to use, and I was worried the results would be too unnatural, but I was completely wrong! It’s so easy to use, even a make-up noob like me can do it. In fact, there are mornings when I’m running behind and I had to zip through this step in my morning routine, and I still manage to leave the house with relatively even eyebrows. (At least I think so, since no one said anything)
The lasting power is quite impressive too. I remember going to the gym directly after work, and after an hour of sweating, my eyebrows were still intact. It’s a bit pricey, but if you manage to catch a sale at Sephora, I highly recommend adding this to your collection.
So here you go, this is what I have in my collection now!
Happy Shopping 🙂
